Porzellanfräulein

We used to have this awesome place in the town we lived in where you can pick your piece of pottery, different colors of paint and design it yourself. They glaze and fire it for you and you can pick it up a couple of days later. It was called Color Me Mine. It was my favorite place for my birthday parties when I was little.

Now I'm not little anymore but I always remembered it an wanted to go there again. Guess what?! They have it here in Hamburg, too!! It's not quite as big and it's quite new, but it's perfect!! It's called Porzellanfräulein here and I've already been there twice.
Thr first time I went with my room-mate and we were lucky that we were there early. We stayed there for five hours and I still wasn't done with my one plate...so I took some paint and my plate home and finished it. Went there again a week later - alone - and sat there for about six (?) hours and enjoyed m the silence and just sitting there by myself with nobody who wanted to go home or anything. Just me, my pottery and peace and quiet....it was great!

The biggest photo-related exhibition or fair (whatever you'd like to call it) takes place in Cologne every second year. My first time was 2010 when I got up extra early and took the train to it...
I went there with my grandma and I was completely overwhelmed not knowing what they have there and where several things are...But it was awesome!!

I even bought my first photo background. Which was the beginning of my photo-studio-equipment. I bought a foldable background with a black and a white side. It was meant to be a Christmas present but since I wanted to organize a photo shoot birthday party for my sister, I was allowed to take it home right away and to use it. Of course it's great for single portraits but for a group of 10 girls it was just a liiiiitle bit too small ;)

Well...it took place again this year and I went there with my mommy :) This time I knew where everything was and was able to tell my mom everything. The best thing was that we didn't have to walk everywhere. Just to the places I wanted to go to :)

And we bought backgrounds again!!! I had the best super-duper deal EVER! Usually, they cost 28€ per roll and I ... I'm serious... bought three for 25€!!!! I guess I was just lucky it was Sunday afternoon and the nice English man was great and my pouty-face worked :)

And nooow I'm home for the first time after 2 months in the Big City and it was just my sister's birthday again. And guess what's happening this weekend? Photo shoot birthday party!!!!

This time we'll not only have a background that is wide enough for all of the girls , but we also have different colors: black, white, champagne, seafoam and copper! I'll post some pictures afterwards :)

Hamburg Kreativ.

Remember how I posted Berlin Kreativ?

Well. Here in My Big City they have a little fair called "Hamburg kreativ." And that is where I went with a friend...We didn't plan on it being so awesome...We had waaaaay to little time. 2 hours are definitely NOT enough for everything.

We started really comfortable and took our time looking at the little stores and took about 20 minutes looking at scrapbook paper. Then I checked the time and realised there were only 75 minutes left for three quarters of the whole fair!!!! We rushed through the other stores barely having time to really look at the things.

Maybe that was a good thing ... I only spent 20 €!!! And this is what I found:

Some scrapbook paper sheets, a little cord-flower-fabric, lacey fabric, lots of business cards and a little cupcake fabric :D

I am so incredibly proud of myself for only spending 20€ !

This is what else they had there...pretty much everything you can think of for crafting. Amazing.

After I realized that I still have to finish painting my art project I decided to do it yesterday to make my day completely productive. (I already made a cake for a special birthday...pictures are going to be uploaded -> here is a little sneak peak:    )

My painting went through a couple different layers and steps with me being frustrated more every time I overpainted it. I'm not completely satisfied with the last layer, but I'm still trying to figure out what I'd have to do to be satisfied. I don't feel quite ready yet to make changes because I'm scared I'll destroy it AGAIN.  Like the last 5 times....


It started looking like this:

Since I couldn't wait for spring to start I thought I'd use spring-ish colors :) I love green and lately I've become more and more fond of pink, haha. Every time someone in school asked which color he or she should use I just yelled "PINK!". I figured I need to make a pink painting myself after that...

I started doing some more work on my painting but somehow it didn't turn out the way I wanted it to. (I missed some layers and steps I took by not taking pictures. Now I will take a picture after every single brush stroke I do!!!)  It ended looking like this and I was pretty much content with the outcome. But then I asked the teacher (Note: I am never ever going to listen to what a teacher says!!! Never. Ever!!)  And she said it looked unfinished and I'd have to work on it some more. 

So I took it home and left it in my craft room for more than a week. My family loved it, my dad even called dibs on one of my other paintings (yaaaaay :)) )

Then I took it out yesterday, got out all the colors I needed including brushes, water and little containers ... just what you need to paint!

...and I completely messed it up. I destroyed it. I thought I could start another painting. It looked so bad. Look at it!

After I calmed down again I decided to improve it a least a little and keep on painting the next day. I started by getting rid of the ugly mixed colors that turned out grey and brown-ish. I really liked the pastell green right bottom but it didn't match the rest of the painting. 

Then I went on and put on some dark green and blue tones. 

It didn't fit either.

I figured my favorite method should work again this time: Sprinkles and splashes of white! And it did work. I was so happy... It started looking better then.

And now this is my final outcome. I can't believe how it changed through the process. And I especially love what coincidence made. You can't see it in the bottom picture. But the next one. 

It's amazing.

I was doing my splashing and sprinkling and you know what was the result? I made a heart! Completely coincidently!!!!

I really like parts of the painting but somehow it doesn't seem right when you see the whole picture...

I'm still figuring out what to do...

But right now I'm off to see a very good friend <3
